Need a disaster recovery option on a limited budget?
Designed to synchronize a master host with a cold standby slave, SyncPP is a script which will insert, update, and delete the remote Picture Perfect database to keep the two systems in synchronization.
SyncPP is a complex shell script which synchronizes a master Picture Perfect host with a cold standby Picture Perfect host. It is not intended as a replacement for the Casi-Rusco redundant picture perfect system, but offers a cheaper alternative in having a near-online backup host which has up-to-date data on it.
Designed to run from the crontab, SyncPP will automatically insert, update, and delete records in the remote system to keep it in sync with the master. No data is ever written to the Master database.
It supports all add-on Picture Perfect packages.
Features:
- Automatic Email Notification if a sync session fails.
- Enhanced error checking and logging.
- Takes an alternate hostname on the command line for mutiple standby hosts if desired.
- Can optionally exclude the history tables for faster sync sessions.
- Can optionally backup critical files to remote system if desired.
Supports package addition synchronization automatically.
- Supported Platforms: Picture Perfect 1.7 and higher.
Supported Databases: AIX and Linux.
